Enyimba blame Akwa draw on ill-luck

Former champions Enyimba were left to rue loads of missed scoring chances in Sunday’s goalless draw against Akwa United that was watched by a capacity crowd of about 12, 000 at the Enyimba International Stadium.
Their fans watched in utter misery as the People’s Elephant created numerous opportunities but failed to convert any and their dazzling winger Etor Daniel feels quite disappointed with their lack of cutting edge.

Etor, who has had a stint with Akwa United in the past was arguably the liveliest of the bunch and was justifiably downcast at the final outcome of the encounter. He spoke to npfl.ng after the game.
“It’s hard to capture my feelings for now though I think it’s just that we had hard luck in the game because we played very well but the goal didn’t come,” Etor said.
“It’s painful because we created lots of chances but couldn’t take any of them. I just believe it’s hard luck.”
Etor dismissed suggestions that the stalemate could have a negative effect on their season, stressing that it would only ensure they work their socks off ahead of subsequent matches.
“This is certainly not going to draw us back. I believe it will only make us work harder. I believe we’re gonna bounce back, the league is just starting and we have a long way to go. I think we’ll improve by our next game,” he said.
The former Niger Tornadoes star however sued for patience from Enyimba fans, assuring them that they will make them happy.
