NASARAWA: Tribunal Upheld Al-Makura’s Victory Over Labaran Maku

Tribunal Sitting in Lafia has dismissed the petition filed by Labaran Maku challenging the victory of Governor Umaru Al-Makura in April 11 general election for lack of merit.
Justice Halima Mohammed the Chairman of the tribunal dismissed the petition on Wednesday while delivering judgment on the matter i Lafia, Nasarawa State.
According to her, “the petitioner has failed to prove the alleged malpractices, non-compliance with the electoral 2010 as amended, guidelines of the election and other relevant laws.

She added that not only does the petitioner failed to prove the non-compliance with the relevant laws, but the petitioner has als failed to prove that the non-compliance has substantially affected the outcome of the election.
“based on that, I therefore strikeout the petition filed by Labaran Maku of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) against Umaru Al-Makura of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to Newsmen shortly after the judgment, Titi Chaku, counsel to Maku said they would study the judgment and consult with client in order to decide on the next line of action.
On his part, Yusuf Usman (SAN) counsel to APC expressed satisfaction with the judgment and said they are vindicated by the tribunal.
