First game for Warriors on home ground at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, with Kevin Durant also making his first home debut.
The 2014-15 champions racked up a 120-75 win against the Clippers, with Thompson racking up 30 points from 14 tries and Durant getting 21 points.
Less than two minuted into the rout, Curry found himself open behind the arc. In most situations, he would have taken a shot, but Curry opted to fake shot, drive and pass to a waiting Durant, who made no mistake. Splash.
“That shot may be one I take down the road depending on how you feel,” Curry said. “But you see two guys running at you, pump fake, and get around them, the flood gates open with options. K.D. and Klay [Thompson] were open for a second on that weak side. Just try to read where that defender was and make the right play. That’s a part of who we’re going to be.”
We might say it is preseason and it doesn’t matter, but it is preseason and the Warriors racked up a 54-point lead on the clippers.
It is preseason, but Durant and Thompson combined to lead the Clippers by 10 at halftime.
Durant produced a superb all-around effort, compiling 21 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two blocks in just 25 minutes. With the victory, the Warriors even their preseason record at 1-1.
