Contemporary African design exhibition called “Making Africa”
in the renowned European design museum turned to be a major hit. 120
artists from all over Africa including Nigeria showcased their art in
the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
African artists conquer Europe. The name of the exhibition in German Vitra Design museum speaks for itself: “Making Africa – A Continent of Contemporary Design”.
The show turned out to be a major hit and attracted more than 15.000 visitors since its opening in March. The main purpose of the exhibition is to show how contemporary art and design in Africa are shaping the continent’s future.
“Africa is showing what design can do in the 21st century and reaching far beyond traditional conventions – which, in any case, have so often been defined in the west”, describes the exhibition Mateo Kries, the Director of the Vitra Design Museum.
After the end of the exhibition in Germany it will be on show between 2016 and 2019 in different European museums including famous Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain.
