Falcao is Unsettled at Man Utd, Claims Striker’s Mother
Radamel Falcao has had a torrid footballing career and has
not had the best of campaigns at Manchester United, according to the
Monaco striker’s mother.
The Colombian has been heavily criticised for failing to live up to
expectations at Old Trafford following his loan transfer from the
principality club.
“Not everything has been easy in Falcao’s life. He has had some difficult moments in his career that have slowed his progress and prevented him from participating in important competitions like the World Cup, or have confined him to the bench, like in Manchester,” his mother, Carmenza Zarate, told Colombian newspaper El Espectador.
The former Atletico Madrid hit man has managed to score just four goals in 25 Premier League appearances for United since his £6m loan switch to the English club.
Zarate urged her son to remain committed and respect manager Louis van Gaal’s decision, while also offering a clue about his future.
“I often remind him that after a test or difficulty blessing arrive,”
she said. “We hope for bigger and better things . God hasn’t abandoned
us and my son will become again what he has been, a goal-scorer.
“Even if he’s unhappy not to be in the starting XI, he has to accept
the coach’s decisions. It’s not a normal situation given what he has
experienced in his career, but it happens in football.”
She added: “If God shows him a new path, he’ll leave Manchester; if not, he’ll stay.”
